Encloses a general report from the Treasurer on the financial State of the Colony, accompanied by the Accounts complete, from the 1st September 1843 to the 31 of March 1848 including the Parliamentary Grants and the balance of the same, shewing an over Expenditure of £21,040 up to March 31, 1848.
The discrepancy between Governor's Accounts and the Auditor's remarks is occasioned by misunderstanding respecting the Chinese Indemnity fund which was available in 1844 & 1845.
The new system of accounts will render it extremely difficult for a recurrence of difficulties.
